Five lessons for harmonious integration
Any modern brand knows that continuously giving your customers better experiences means you sell more. It relies on the harmonious connection of your technology landscape. With nearly two decades of partnering with some amazing businesses in transformative projects, we have learnt a thing or two about business processes and the technology that enables them.
Here are some of the lessons we’ve applied to AgilyCom (apologies in advance for the extended musical metaphor….)
Lesson #1 Integrations that support business processes will hum along
It’s really easy to spend a lot of money on integration platforms with “all the bells and whistles” and a bunch platform experts to implement them (who move on after launch date). But if the technology isn’t built with your business processes in mind, and the experts are experts in the tech but not your business, you have to ask if it will really be serving you and your business in the most effective, and efficient way – for now and the future?
Lesson #2 Business keeps dancing and so should your connections
Because we have always worked with the entire technology landscape (aka end-to-end) we have done a LOT of integrations. And what we learnt is that things never stop moving. So when you are implementing a new integration approach, the worst possible thing to do is to take a “We shall build it and we will be done” approach, because that will be perfect for about one day. Your business is continuously evolving and you need to be able to rely on your system connections to keep up with you after the project is done.
Lesson #3 Your business marches to beat of data, data, data
There is an old saying you probably know: Garbage in, garbage out. You and your customers need to be able to rely on the data. For you it’s about making informed decisions quickly based on accurate information that isn’t hamstrung by data silos or out of date information. And your customers will buy more if their shopping journey is rich, accurate and seamless – they can jump from online to instore, check out product availability, and then keep returning to you because they see that you value and reward them as a customer. To achieve this you need integrations that work instantly and round the clock.
Lesson #4 The Symphony of Connectivity
A complex technology landscape should work like a beautifully synchronized symphony. But poorly connected technology is definitely not music to the ears. Complexity breeds silos, both in technology and business. We have witnessed the negative impact of disconnected systems firsthand. Your integrations should bridge the gaps and foster seamless connectivity between different systems and platforms. When you have a unified ecosystem, it streamlines operations, enhances customer experience, and drives overall business growth.
Lesson # 5 Strike the right chord: Keep it Simple, and Keep it Affordable
We believe that integration should be simple and cost-effective. It should minimize complexity and ensure a smooth integration process. When you have a solution that is built from the ground up with your kind of business in mind, and it’s managed by people who get “you”, you are not paying for costly customizations or to educate the integrators in the basics of how your business works.
